Pupil Assessment

Allow Pupils To Self-Evaluate Their Own Understanding Of Each Unit's Learning Objectives.

The following two resources are required for each unit of work, and are held on a single Excel spreadsheet. The record sheets for all four year groups are held in this single Excel file.  The spreadsheets can be completed electronically, or printed off and handed to the pupils to keep a record in their exercise books. To download this file click on either of the links below.

Assessment Record Sheet

Each unit’s objective overview should be issued at the beginning of the each unit of work. The pupils need to read through the first box; 'What you should already know', and enter either an E (Excellent), G (Good), S (Satisfactory), or I (Improvement Needed)  for each area dependent on their current level of understanding under the before tab.

The record then lists all the unit's objectives in order, allowing the pupils to record their respective level of understanding of each lesson objective as with the first section. This allow s the pupils to identify areas of the curriculum they will be covering in the upcoming unit of work.  The NC level is also listed for each objective.

Lessons which contain multiple learning outcomes show a progression across each objective (as outlined in the KS2 Framework). The pupil should record their assessment in the boxes provided using E, G, S, or I under the after tab.

Finally at the end of each unit of work ask the pupils to return to the record, and enter their level of understanding under the after tab. As the pupil's record their levels, they will identify their strengths and areas for further development.

Key Vocabulary Record Sheet

Again, this file (same Excel file as the assessment record above) is to be issued at the beginning of each block of work. The record allows the individuals to list which of the block's key words they understand in preparation of the upcoming unit of work. Please note there is only one list of key vocabulary for each block of work as stated in the framework, and will need to be used for each of the block's 3 units of work.

At the beginning of the unit, it is recommended the pupils read through the key words in preparation for the forthcoming unit of work.

At the end of each unit of work the pupils should revisit the record, entering a number 1, 2 or 3 (depending on the unit of work just completed)  to identify the pupil's level of understanding for each key word.  The numbers 1, 2, and 3 should indicate any progression made across the block's key vocabulary throughout the year.
